Jubilee Celebrations

What a fantastic way to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee than with a concert ! Well the parish of Wonston did exactly that with a concert including 9 separate acts, compered by Lisa Faye with a firework grand finale on The Gratton, Sutton Scotney on Monday 4th June.
The celebrations had been going on all day but the evening kicked off with a sing a long of Land of Hope and Glory, Jerusalem and God Save The Queen hosted by Midge Scott. Then ‘Badge’ took to the stage with a selection of well known songs, followed by Jamie Faulkner, a finalist of Untapped Talent. There Sixteen and Falling Down followed with their own music including a wedding proposal mid set ! Thankfully she said yes! Irish music followed with Kirk Carrion – part of Shebeen, which really got the crowd on their feet and they were then joined by Lisa Faye. This was the first time they had worked together and It won’t be the last as they entertained the dancing audience with songs like, Black Velvet, Son of A Preacher Man and Pearl’s A Singer. Single Skin were up next with their punk rock music, leading up to Step On The Gas, who really rocked the night and brought it to a fantastic climax before the firework finale!
